i have a tracker i know nothing about it exept that my grandparents treated it like a baby and gave it to me for free =)
but its a 91 how do i tell if its the 8v or 16v engine?
-
8V has a black valve cover, 16V
has aluminum, and I think the
spark plugs are in the middle
of the valve cover too.
-
running out to pop hood =)
edit: black cover is that bad? :(
-
The black cover is a little bad but its still an engine. the 16V is good but the 8V still pretty good.
-
teh balck cover is ok but the 16V is better
-
What you have is an 8 Valve 1.6L
engine, no worries I got one too,
Of coarse mine is turbocharged,
but it will serve you well if you
change the oil with GOOD oil
like Mobil1 or Castrol and use
a purelator filter, better than
the Fram which is junk.
(read the oil filter post)
and change every 3-5K
miles, 3 is better, factory
said 7500 Mi, so either is better
than that.
Is it a 4 wheel drive ??
or a motorhome pusher ??
;)
-
My '91 Sidekick is an 8 valve engine also. It's works friggin great. I change my oil every 3000-5000 kms and she runs so smooth...like a sewing machine. :D
Don't worry, an 8 valve motor is nothing to worry about. If anything, feel proud that you have a reliable and worthy motor in a GM vehicle for once! :-*
-
its a 4x4 s door conv but it has a hard top on it (20 bucks =) )
i also change the oil every 3k BUT i put a fram on :( then i read the post so its now in need of the oil changed again so im gunna do a purilator i also need an air filter ( any recemendations?)
i am also very glad its so reliable my g-parents have had no serious problems the bearing the from burnt up but thats from not properly being maint' its also on its a orig clutch thats how much it was babied lol has 62k miles on it my moms 2001 gand vitara 4 door 4x4 has 64k LOL
that tuboed one has to be a blast must get alot of stupid looks from peps that have been schooled by a 2 tone turboed geo lol
-
See if you can get a K&N air filter, check out the thread I originally posted, apparently they are amazing!
-
i have a K&N on my moms car the 01 gand vitara and it was a noticable difference but it was like 60 bucks :(
so for my car i was wondering if it would be worth whatever ungodly amount they are lol
i also like to be the pearson that does stuff others wouldnt so im prety sure ill see a stream one time and just HAVE to go through it i was wondering if a K&N would work with a snorkle?
-
2 kinds of K&N filters, the cone filter that won't work so well with a snorkle and then they have a drop in replacement one that fits in your stock airbox for about $35-$40 and it will work fine with a snorkle
-
i think i will do the drop in replacement im going to be getting oil and a filter tommorow (not FRAM!) so i will pick up the filter
should i replace the spark plug wires? i just replaced the spark plugs
-
i know this sounds kinda dumb but is my car fuel injected or carburated? i have heard things leading both ways............
-
It should say right on the engine, no? ???
-
I'm pretty sure it is Fuel Injected.
But it's a Throttle Body Type, which
is sort of like an electronic Carburettor.
-
o where on the engine? im gunna get sea foam tommorow to clean the little heffer out but i need to know what kind to get i think
-
I can't speak for all of the Kicks,
but mine says it on the long
intake runner, see pic.
;D

-
Naw... But you might want to
get your eyes checked before
you drive your Zuke again LOL
;D
-
