Title: 4x4 Gas mileage
Post by: rushaburee on October 21, 2003, 10:56:39 PM
Hi all
I have a Suzuki Escudo, model 1991, long chasis with 1.6L (or 1600cc). For each liter of petrol I put in it gives me 8 kilometeres on town travel and 12 kilometers on highways.  Its a mnaual Transmission. It used to give me less than these rates but when I changed the aircleaner, it gives me those rates above. (I litre equals 0.26 Gallons in USA, or 0.22 gallons in UK).

Is that ok, or it could give me more?? I have a feelling it should give more. When compared to my Toyota Corola of the same engine capacity (1.6L or 1600cc) I get more gass mileage. Why is that so? (My toyota gives me 10kilometers in town and 14 kilometers on highway per litre of petrol.

Please advise

Thats not bad. Converted is around 18 MPG city and 28MPG highway (USA terms) The highway is about what I get in my 98 X-90, but the city mileage seens a bit low in comparison to the highway.

Hiya..

Coincidentally, I have both cars like you do, albeit different year models. And am getting exactly the same mileage as you are getting.

Mind you, we cant really compare the truck's mileage to the corolla cos of tyres, aerodynamics, and the different gears (zuki having higher gears naturally).

I initially was also having lower mileage when I first got the suzuki, but change of fluids, air filter, spark plugs.. and also some bottles of fuel system cleaner and carburetor cleaner helps too.

Am thinking of looking into changing out the PCV and oxygen sensor when I can find the parts...

Hope this helps....
