Title: 4-2-1 or 4-1 exhaust?

I'm currently using a customized 4-1 header wrapped with THERMOTEC and freeflow exhaust.  What performance gains will I achieve if I shift to a 4-2-1 exhaust?  I've read that a 4-2-1 offers more power on the low-range but compromising top-end while the 4-1 system does the opposite. THanks!
