i put on just the cat back muffler. it doesn't look all that impressive.....but :o this mutha has some renewed get up and go. is it just me or has anyone else noticed a noticible increase in pep with Calminis exaust. the experiance i'm having with just the cat back makes me really want to get their header to.
is the header worth it?

could it just be the new sound? makes u think yer goin faster ;D

i like mine, but nothing is ganna give you a HUGE boost. but that said, every lil bit helps ;)

I run their header on both my trail rig, and my DD 4-door. Yeah, it's worth it, in my humble opinion.

no, doubtful on that. i was pretty suprised that there is no "sound". this muffler is as quiet as the factory muffler. i admit i was thinking this would sound buzzy like honda, but was glad it was not. i don't get any impression that it makes any "performance" type growl at all. but i DO feel a difference in power. this is noticed more in the top end on freeways.
i'd rather gain a few horses than have a noisey muffler so this was a great buy for me.

I have the same question. It sounds a though the cat back does a LOT of good. But does the header gain you much on a 16v for the price?

I was impressed with the power gains on my 8V with the Calmini full exhaust system...add a free flowing intake and a cam and it really wakes the little bugger up :)

yeah my set-up is a 16v.  i have a modified air-box with a K&N drop-in filter.  so it's basically an open intake.  stock exaust manifold...but wanting the header.  and the cat back.  i can say with just this my 2-door MOVES.  that's with 235/75/15 BFG-A/T's.
after i put on the larger tires i really lost some top end.  it was alot harder to achieve and maintain 70MPH.  with just the cat back, if i don't watch it i'll catch myself doing 85+MPH without breaking a sweat.
i just wanted to say i'm very impressed with this product. and let everyone else that may be "thinking" about getting it, know it's a worthy buy.

is it 2" diameter? I was just going to do a 2" cat back with a stock 2" muffler (not a glass packed) since i do not want the noise....but want to pep it up a little

FYI, I talked to a product-development guy at Thorley Headers in early April. He said that they're planning to release a smog-legal header for the 16V 1.6 in "about six months"- which would be good for those of us whose Zuks have to be smog-tested.
