hey i was just wondering about the write up on puting the sammy locker in the Grand Vintara houseing and in the Sidekick/Tracker. is thair any hidden cost? extra stuff?? stuff that wasn't said in the write up??? anything that would make this project go smoother would be a great help. thanks

I havent read the article but I have the Sami Detroit in My Kick. You will need to get a Samurai carrier machined to accept the Kick passengerside 1/2 shaft, a locker, and a retaining sleeve to hold the carrier pins in. I called Hawk (1-888-samurai) and they sent me everything I needed for the conversion.

if u go back to the zukiworld home page and go to the article ackhive and a little over half way down it sez Hagen and a pic of his Tracker and it has a list of mods to do on an Tracker like the gas tank lift and the front locker. by the way do u have a steel front case? thats what i'm going to this winter sence i broke the stock junk one. anyway thanks for your help! :) :) :)

i think we think alot alike.  We did lots of the same stuff to are trucks.  we sould talk more and i think we could make better stuff then even Hagen could.  :o

My Kick is in the Shop at this very moment with it's new Anvil waiting for the torch gas to arrive (cross member mods ;)) I'm trying something new with the Anvil. I'll let you'll know some details when I get all the details worked out.
As for that Hagen guy :P. Hell, I'm still trying to catch up >:( I just installed an 97 rear end and did his rotation while I was at it. I'm going to order some rs9000's once I ramp it and see what length I need. Once I get everything set up, I'll look it over again and see where there is room for improvement ;D

I'm not even going to try the 97 rear. i'm goin right for the big guns ;D i have a Ford 9in rear in the back yard and i'm just gunna shave it, put gears and a spool in it and go. I'm not messin around with little twigy rears anymore. I think with the stock back spaced rims the rear tires will be about even with the front. I might even try to make on fit in the front ;)

The article is on the front page this month and as far as hidden costs go there really is none. Hawk has the carrier's ready to go. The lockers drop right in and the ring an pinions bolt right up too. That's one of the reason's the article is soo short. It's really simple, it just took me awhile to find all the pieces. the only thing you may need is a diff can to keep the spider gear pins inplace and these are available in a variety of places for pretty cheap. Your basically just swapping the weak aluminum stock parts for cast iron components. If you have any questions feel free to drop me a line at Hutch|removethispart|@zukiworld.com
