That is the one there should be an extension for, it is about 3" long milled steel with a threaded hole in it for the shifter knob.

There is an install on zukiworld look under article archives, and 3" suspension lift for sidekick, the body lift is in there as well.

If you can't get it sorted out, I don't know how often you head towards Ottawa, but there is a friend that lives in Embrun (between Montreal, and Ottawa. That knows Suzukis inside and out, has built coiled Sami's the whole bit, he would be able to help you out. If you need I can get you his number.

If the guy extanded my regular shifter and not my 4x4shifter  can that be why it wont go down ot 2WD ?

And will any 4x4 performance place fix that for me ? welde an extantion to my 4x4 shifter ??

Man everyone must hate me so much for asking so muich questions lol  :-/ sorry  but running 4x4 all day all week eats up the gaz and im sure it aint the best thing to do either ...  :'(

You could extend both, but the extention was meant for the transfer case ( 2x4 to 4x4), the instruction say to heat and bend the transmission shifter and to extend the Transfer case shifter :o

If it binding and won't go down far enough, to move into 2wd that is your problem.

When installing a body lift taller than 2 inches, you should extend both your manual shifter as well as your 4x4 shifter. They have to come up through the floor far enough to work. Otherwise they get stopped by the metal of the floor, or the plastic of the console. You can cut the holes in the floor bigger also. (I don't think that looks as good though.)

I have a picture of my extended shifters:

These were extended 3 inches at the base, before the bend.

Do i just have to extand it 3" and it should work ?
Or do i have to bend it as well ???
( talking about the 2x4 - 4x4 shifter )

Just extend the shifter for the transfer case, I did not need to bend mine to make it fit.

hey, I don't want to sound preachy or anything, but you'll find that even though you think you don't know much fixing cars, it ain't as complicated as the computers you work on.  maybe just a little greasier :D  two things will happen when you start working on your own rig.  one, you'll have more money to spend on cool stuff to put on it, and you don't have to work with some nut case who claims to know what he's doing.  these kits come with detailed instructions, and I'll bet you could follow them as easily as the next guy.  It has been fun reading about your exploits with your "mechanic" ;D  but I bet we'd all rather have you tell us about how you handled the project on your own.  I'll get down off my soap box now and wish you all the beast ( I mean best)  with your new set up.  What color are you going with?

Ill keep it white because changing color will bring the price up :(  i wanted to color it  orange rust metalic kind of color  but i guess ill have to pass on this part  :'(

Ok a little late hehe but i just checked it out the guy did put the extension on the 4x4 shifter ... the reason why wasnt going back enough was ... it was getting blocked by a piece of metal  that is made to hold the back of the console or somtin like that .. i removed it and VOILAAAAAAAAA :D my Uber Asuna is allllllllll good ...
EXCEPT MY MUFLER TUBE ( that last part that is long and stick the smoke out ) BROKE   :'(  im getting that fixed tomorow hehe :)
THANK YOU EVERYONE THAT HELPED

I'm getting my shifters extended by 2" tomorrow - will this avoid the need to mod. the console? I've already extended the holes in the transmission tunnel, to no avail.

When you have the extension welded on, you need to move the transfer case shifter back to 4x4. If it hits or almost hits the body you should have the rubber mounted part of the shifter(the black part) heated and bent foward so it clears the body and the console

Thats what I did with mine. I heated the shifter with a torch and bent it .  It took a couple tries to get it where I wanted it. I also made a slit in the rubber under the shifter boot so when I put things back together, The rubber flap did not hinder the movement of the shifter.

Drive your Tracker to the shop and bend the shifter there so you can do it rite one time!

good luck Rich
