When the transfer case is in 4WD the front and rear differentials are locked together. When you turn, the radius of the rear and front axles' circles are different so the drivetrain tends to bind. What you feel is the drivetrain binding and slipping to relieve the bind.
Don, y'all

I got the same problem with my 2000 Tracker. When I go out on the beach and I'm trowing sand around lol if I turn the steering wheel hard in either direction I can hear and feel a binding in the front end. I feel it's the CV since it only happens during full lock.
