Title: Need a custom pitman arm

Where can I get a custom 4" drop pitman arm made?  

Or, should I go for a Toyota steering box  to avoid any power or strength issues with the stock box and then buy a drop pitman arm for the Toyota steering box?

There aren't any drop pitman arms for Sidekick boxes that I know of. Unless you are using the non-powersteering box and then I *think* the Samurai arm works. But who would do that, right? :) Sounds like you're going solid axle. If so, I'd suggest getting a hi-steer type conversion for the axle you choose instead and leave the pitman and steering box. I've used a Sidekick powersteering kit on my ol' red samurai for years and years with Dana 44's and 35" tires and haven't had any issues.

I have my tie rod and draglink on top of my knuckle.  I'm using a d-44 from a Scout.  Its not a flat top knuckle.  All links are heimed.  The draglink is just about maxed out.  Also using 4" lift springs for a Cherokee.

Do you have any pics of your setup?

Any additional info would be helpful!

If you've already got the D44 then it's pretty easy to go hi-steer. All you need is a pair of outer knuckles and, of course, the hi-steer arms. Sky probably has what you need on his shelf. 1(541)736-3743.

I know that brent at  Trail Tough makes a three inch drop pitman for around 150.00, I think if you go much more than that it will put a strain on your frame :'(

Dennis brings up a really good point here. The Sidekick frame is really, really stressed at the steering box. In fact, I'd be willing to wager that almost everyone that has wheeled their 'Kick significantly has a cracked frame right in the crumple zone area. A dropped pitman would put even more stress on this area.

Thanks for the info about the frame and where to get the pitman arm.  If I do get the drop pitman arm I'll have to look into re-enforcing the frame.

Not sure what I want to do. I could go with the drop pitman arm, flat top knuckles with high steer arms or a drag link with close quarter bends from Bullet Proof Steering.  It may take a combo.
