Hello all,
I have a 91 Sidekick, it has the Intermittant wipers. When I turn the wipers on, they work fine, but when I turn them off, they just stop where they are. they don't reset to the bottom of the windshield. Also, the Intermittant just works the same as low speed. there is no delay.
anyone know what causes this? motor?, switch? fuse?
any help would be greatly appreciated as it is very wet here right now.
thanks!

yep
the relay sounds like its knackered
its the park function thats gone get a new relay and all your whoas will be over ;D

I dont know what your trouble could be, but I've got one better :o My Wipers turn on everytime I turn on my Right Turn Signal ??? If any one know what could possibly cause this PLEASE let me know. I'm asuming a shoeted wire somewhere in my steering column :-/
-
I would say that your problem is in the multi function Switch in the steering column. the signals and wipers are controled by one huge EXPENSIVE switch. try to locate a used one.
-
My was fubared as well, The entire signal wiper assy is one unit, there are slides with copper plates, that move up and down on the circut board, mine was not repairable as it had shorted out and burnt the traces off the board, it was a bitch to put back together. You might be better off and replace the unit from the wreckers if you can find, mine had cruise and Int wipers nothing to be found, new from Suzuki they gave it to me a just above cost ($300.00 CDN)

i had the same exact problem wit the intermitent bein the same as low and not stoppen at the bottom.........only the funny thing is that one day it started working fine again lol ;D
-
Thanks! I'll have to check and see if the one on my 98 will switch out with my 89.
-
I was told by the partsman at Suzuki 89 to 91 where interchangable.

My wipers started coming on with the right turn signal too, no it's not the multi switch,
been there done that, no shorts or bad wires, mine also come on with the 4 way flashers so it's got to be a bad wire shorting to the wiper circuit, drives me nuts that I can't use my right signal without looking stupid
-
Thanks, I know that stupid feeling. It's even better when you smear bugs ans mud when you are trying to turn :P
-
Do your wipers come on with the 4way flashers too?
this might become a more common problem with high
mile Kicks.
-
All it was is a bad ground, I started looking into the
wireing harness and then found that the ground to the
right turn signal and the side marker are all tied together,
I then unbolted the ground wire from the body and
used a 12V test light to make the circuit, pos to ground wire
makes the wipers go, so I made sure it was grounded
good and the problem went away. easy fix, should of
worked on it long ago, but wireing is a pain in the rump,
so I kept putting it off.
-
Sweet!!! An easy fix :o Where did you find the detached ground? Mine is acting exactly like yours, right blinker and 4 way flashres.

Follow the black wire from the right side marker and the right turn
signal, I had my wire screwed down under the winshield washer
bottle screw, the one toward the front of the car. I don't remember
where it came from stock, but if you follow the black wire, it has a
ring terminal on the end that needs to be cleaned and grounded,
problem fixed ??? ;D 8)

Thanks, I'll give it a Try ;)
