I just lost all elect. power to ' everything ' for the second time now. The last time I looked at fusses and grounds and batt. connections - then it just went on again -- (Damn I hate that !! ) and sure enough it just happened again. Luckily in my drive way again !!
Anyone have this before or have any suggestions on where to look ??
Thanks

battery connections is the first that popped in my mind.
Maybe bad grounding but that wouldn't have left everything without power... :-/

possibly a fusible link? I've been having electrical problems as well and they suck. Mine resolved on its own overnight, but it happened again. I'm almost ready to take it somewhere.
-
Oh on a sam the + side is fused by a small cable (too small in my opinion) so If you've added some more electrical gadgets to it that might be broken.
-
That ' fusible link ' --- what is that all about ??
Checked the Batt connections - they never been so clean !!!
No new electrical gadgets -- all pretty much stock but for the radio that I put in last year ??
Thanks for the replies ------

Was it running at the time?
OK, just because you have the battery terminals all shiny, doesn't mean you don't have corrosion at the OTHER end of the cables. Check where the black cable attaches to the body/engine/whatever.
And fusible links, when they go, they stay gone - they don't start working again.
-
No it was not running at the time. I just got home - shut the engine down and had the radio going trying to listen to the news about the head terrorist they got today -- half way through the news everything went dead !!!!!!!!!!
I also checked the other end of the cables -- even have an extra wire going from the distributer to the firewall for the ground .....
-
Have you ever broken a battery, use your rig off road.? it happens. ;D
-
No I never broken a batt before -- and yes I was just up in the hills less than a week ago --- damn we shot the crap out of those crows !!!!!
This fusible like thing --- There is a heavy gauged wire besides the starter wire coming off of the pos side. I wiggle that and the lights come on then off ??? Where does that wire end up ?? It is heading into the harness from what I can see !!

Hmmm, I believe the fusible link was such a thing, but I'm not sure (I have a tracker and that have none). But if you wiggle it and the lights come off that'd mean:
1 it's broken and makes a contact if you wiggle
2 it shortcirquits....
3 the connectors are bad.

Done deal boy's --------------- It was that fusible link. I found the other end and did a seach here -- ended up at wallyworld for an in line fuse. Got it replaced and she fires right up ........
Amazing what happens when you ' Wiggle ' it a little !!!!!!!!! ::)
Thanks for the help --------------

we call that the tap and wiggle test at my shop!!!! ;D
-
I wonder what made it fry? do you have a big stereo? or tow a trailer or have off road lights?
-
They can get old and corrode.
It is a thin piece of wire that acts as a fuse. It should burn up before any of the rest of the wiring does. Replacing it with a fuseholder and fuse does the trick.

A added nothing to the stock rige but a radio and that was last year. I think it was just getting old .........
How about this ------------- I had to pull my head today -------- on the motor !!!!!!!!!!!!
Number 3 cylinder was sucking all my cooling juice !!!
Damn I sure wasn't needing this right now ........
Thanks for your guy's help ----
