ok here it is i have a 94 tracker 16 valve, standard, 5.12s, locked rear, snorkle, 31" LTBs. i am thinking of gutting it and going with a sami. putting my motor in the sami with four link rear yota and leaf sprung front. stretch the wheel base 15" to 20" and dove tail the rear. exo cage and 35" to 37" tires . i've got the yota axles and i also have a 9" out of a early bronco and a dana 30 out of a cj. the tracker body is in pretty bad shape i did a crappy 4 1/2" body lift instead of doing it right now all the body mounts r pulling out and it is going to be a pain in the but to fix. my question fix the tracker and SAS or get a sami and buid it. also i have to keep wieght down to pull it with my jeep. the sami will be for me and my wife to wheel.

I would see if you could borrow a built sammy or take a ride in one, they are lite in stock form like 2100 lbs, mine wheighs about 2800 lbs with all of my junk in it and tires, wheels ,seats, bumpers, hardtop, I like them alot because of the snow we get here I can follow the snow machines, and cats and in the mud it does real well also.

i just sold a stock sami which i want to kick my own ass for and my friend as one on 32's with a 1.3 SPOA ans stock springs. i have driven it on severa ocations. i took it with me to hot springs to the superlift park. www.ohvpark.com it didn't do to whell it was underpowered and had no flex due to stock shocks on it. however the other guy that was there had a sami on 35" boggers with soil spring front and rear with 6.5:1 and he would roll over everthing. but i was on 31 in my tracker and was right behind him he was very impressed with the tracker. it has alot to do with how u drive.

Personally I have always felt the Samurai looked like a serious off-roader despite its small size, where-as the Tracker looked more like a fun beach cruiser. I shopped both this last time before buying my Sami, and I passed on a 94 tracker because I just didnt feel manly enough sitting in it.
I realise thats a pretty thin reason to pick one over the other, but hey, its a hobby so i may as well enjoy it.

well it will mainly driven by my wife and only offroad. the reason i am considering the change is the wieght differance and traveling with 2 rigs can get costly. and under 3000lbs i can put it on a single axle trailer and hook it to my xj on 37's and head for the trails. thanks for all the input.
