In the Spring of 2004 the rest of the Millican Trail System will re-open, (some of the trails are now closed for the winter). I purchased a Cabin on 20 Acres in the middle of the trail system this summer (no utilities) and I would love to host a group for a weekend of trail running and site seeing. We have a little room inside for sleeping, and can clean out the shop for camping inside, others have 20 acres to set up their tents. We spent last weekend exploring the trails and put on 50-60 miles per day. Stock rigs have no problems getting around this beautifull country. We could also visit the Pine Mountain Observitory and other interesting places we still have to discover. All the Holiday weekends are booked for me, so we will look for a weekend date late spring or sometime in the Fall to stay out of the high desert heat and DUST. Let me know what you think.

Sounds like the late April to early June time frame would work best. I was up there this past weekend, it was just wet on Saturday, then Snowed all night. What a beautifull drive out on Sunday Morning!
In reguards to the non-Zuks... I wonder if Eric would care to comment... Chime in.

Hi Glenn,
This is an interesting question in a couple of ways. First off, I'm super happy you're using the board to hook up with fellow zuk-e-teers. As far as if you're setting up a run, I don't really have to have any say in it. :)
I will say though that if I had my druthers, I'd like to see Suzuki only. I feel that it definitely adds to the experience and the specialness of it when all the people are on the same page. We can all go out any weekend and wheel with 'those other people.' :) So, let's make a few special times just for us.
So what ever you set up Glenn, I'll try to attend, help put on, and if I can contribute in some way. The only exception would be if you have a pile of full size wheelers [big broncos, blazers, big three pickups...] showing up, that would be a negative... :(

Not a problem I understand, I was just curious. I am still interested in going, so let me know.

would this area be good for the novice with a stock sidekick?
-
This is a perfect area for novices and stock rigs. We took a freind out with a stock Samurai in November, and he had a blast. We will plan a stop at a "PLAY AREA" for thoes that want to mess around a little. I am not sure what is more fun, doing or watching, maybe both.
My wife does'nt like the 155 mile drive fom our home to our cabin in our Samurai much, so we bought a nice 1998 Tracker 4-Dr to make the trip more comfortable, but it goes great on the trails.
One day that Tracker will make a nice off roader too!
Don't tell my wife!

Me and the boys are in just give us the details.
See ya there

anyone know how far that is roughly from colorado Springs, if it isn't to far I am game. I have little to no experience, but have a love for zukis and a tracker with slight mods.
-
I checked yahoo maps it is roughly 1211.3 mile from colorado springs, CO to Bend, OR which is close to where the trail system is located. 18 hour drive it said. I hope I have my locations right. So that could be good :D or bad :( depending how you look at it. Hope that help, have a good one.

Well Spring will be here soon, our Millican adventure will be scheduled for mid to late May 2004, we will try to firm up a date real soon. We could meet on a Thursday evening in time to set up camp or Friday mid-morning.. Please provide your preference. We are going to have a nice weekend well suited for the stock Zuks and a newer drivers with a focus on camping, freinds, and fun. Friday nite we may run up to OSU's Pine Mountain Observitory and look at the stars! A couple things to think about and plan for... You will need an ATV Tag on your Rig to run on the trail system. Just take in your registration into a Motorcycle shop or I get mine at GI Joes, I cant remember what they cost, about $10.00. A CB Radio is handy to have on the trails, we allways run Channel 1. Please figre on Dry Cammping, we have some provisions there, but bring what you need including wash water and if you have a arm load of fire wood, we can keep the camp fire burning. One thing I will ask of everyone, we will be camping at our Cabin in the woods and we would like to keep it's location a seceret, PLEASE do not tell anyone where it is, and do not return to our place un-invited. We will meet at the Millican Store and I will lead us up to our place. We will plan to cook big breakfasts in the mornings for everyone (you can bring eggs, meat, etc), keep snacks in your rig for the day, and we can fire up the BBQ for dinner and everyone can cook your own.
This will let you know what we are thinking for the weekend, provide us with your input!

Just saw your post and I would love to attend. I've been out of the wheelin' loop for a while and this would be fun. I've got a cabin outside of Crescent and have been out to Millican OHV a couple of times.
Thanks,
Ryan

We are a couple week away! Let me know who is attending and who is coming Thursday and who is coming on Friday. I will need to round up the food and maybe run it over the weekend before the event and prepare maps for everyone. People who have expressed interest in attending are... Glenn, Mike F., Eric +1, Stasi +1, Connie +1, Mike S +1 and a couple people from the BBS. It would be cool to have about 10-Rigs!
Use the BBS, I will check it.

You might have a couple more show up if my friend can bring his cj-5 ??? plus he could tow mine to help with the over two bucks a gallon fuel.
-
Bring your budy in the Jeep. If we can get one more Zook by having one non-Zook that I am all for it. I have one other non-zook coming but the young man has a real NICE Samurai available to him and we need to talk him into it. He is thinking Toyota! Can you beleive it. It sounds like we can re-direct a couple lost people back to reality this weekend....If not we will still have a great time! Hope to see you there. Don't forget to let me know when you will arive so we know when to be at the store. And read the all the posts so you have all the information.

It looks like me and my friend won't be able to make it this time, the club here has a show n shine on saturday and a run here on sunday, and it might be raining the wx here has been real bad this week, we are supposed to be going on a three day overnighter 29-31st this month at xmas valley so we are trying to get ready for that, it would be nice if the weather would cooperate I could get my new gears in and all.
