Title: Golf balls for tire balance??

Anyone done this?? I have seen posts about it over on Pirate....some of them even use tennis balls!! and they claim it works good.
Brent (Purevil) did it with the Bobcat tires he had on his truck for a while, and said it worked for him...I just wonder about using them in street tires.
I really don't get that many highway miles....but I don't wanna' bounce like a basketball when I do!
and the little weights are out of the question....they last me about 4 minutes, before I scrape them off on a tree.::)
Got the new 33x13.50 LTBs  ready to go on!!

ask your commercial truck tire place for the powder tire balancer, works better and stays put once it sets

Would the stick on weights, that stick to the inside of the rim not work?  little chance they would get scraped off I would think since they are on the inner part of the wheel by the hub?

I've heard the powder gets wet and clumps up. Don't remember the name but it's the same as the sweetner.

My buddy works for Alpine tire that is a commercial tire company (18 wheelers,school busses etc.) he does all my tires and i have the liquid balance thats what the bigger rigs use.Anyways it was explained to me that it is in liquid ( wich is suppose to condition your tire and extend the life) form at all times until the tire starts to rotate then it turns in to lil balls and they fill in the off spots!I have used this for over 2 years in 3 sets of tires and i can say B-ply tires have never riden better! that my .02

Equal is the name I believe.

It's called equal and it's just a 3 once bag of sand that costs $10

It is Equal... and is "sand" with a desicant in it.

Most shops that deal in commercial truck tires carries it. I have also heard mixed successes with using BBs for tire balancing. There was a website somewhere that has a scale of # of bb's=#oz, for each size tire.

I think the jist of thier discussion is in regard to the larger tires - 40"&up  that some of these guys run. The # of BBs to the ounce vs. lead shot vs. tennis bals vs. golf balls........ try something.... we'll see what happens to yours.   ;)
