Why?
Sorry, but I've seen so many claims with no backup I gotta know "why" are these 30% stronger?
"their redesigned input spline area" huh?

Why? If you hammer 32's or 33's locked up you will greatly appriciate the 30%. I went with my Ford 9" solely because there were no aftermarket shafts available for the Kicks.
When I build another I will definately be purchacing a set before I trash a rear end due to metal fragments rolling around in the carrier.
Or do you mean How are they 30% stronger? Either way, I have never had a Calmini product fail on me in the 11 years I have been using their products.

Its in the hardening proccess. A properly hardened axle can be a huge upgrade. I twisted the splines on my 28 spline nine inch axles after just one event. I ordered Superior Axles for it and have been running them without any problems.

Well, 30% stronger is an understatement, as I have a snapped stock axle - that would be a LOT more than 30% stronger. Time to call Calmini!
-
The axles are on the way!
-
Darn it! I keep getting home to late to call.
But I will soon ;D

ordered mine this morning.

They use a better quality metal too, 4140 chromemoly I believe.

for which year model sidekick are those stronger shafts ? Can they be installed in a 98 model ?
-
It's say's on the web site '89 to '98 but I'd be checking for sure with the sales guys.
Do your axles look the same with the four stud flange or are they the newer 5 stud type ?
-
I think they are the 5 stud type... My rear driveshafts dont have that shape shown in the photos. They are circle shape not square.I hope they make stronger ones for 5 stud flange.
-
I think your out'a luck their GRVIT :'(
They only show the four stud type on the web.
-
Yes ,and I think its not good cause I must change my plans....I was thinking of installing the front solid SPOA (leafs) and using 33's but without those HD axles I have to stay with 31's which means that 31's with solid SPOA will seem small and maybe it will affect stability when offroading....So I might change my plans and do coils instead of leafs.

You can still do it, I believe that all you need is the 4 stud axles and different brake drums and your running the hardened axles. (you may have to do all the brakes but I dont think so. Any body else know for sure?

I think you re right Zig.Very logical. Why I didnt think that....I wonder if that roll over  caused me some mental problems... :)
Can I use 4 stud flanges/ drums without this affecting the use of 5 stud rims ?

Yea, the 4 studs Im talking of is holding the drum not the wheel.

Yeah, I know.... :) The new HD axles have the earlier 4 stud pattern on them. All you need to do, if you have the later model 5 bolt flange, is locate a set of earlier drums. All of the brakes and doo-dads are interchangeable. In fact, I had the larger late model backing plates to brake pads with the late model 5 bolt flange drums off of a 4-door (bigger brakes) and when I put the Calmini axles in all I had to do was get the earlier 4-door brake drums and everything else stayed the same.
Look for an upcoming install article soon.
