Title: bumper relocating
Post by: weaver on July 09, 2005, 01:10:16 PM
so to say that you were going to bump up your body 2" and wanted to stay with the stock bumpers, what would need to be done and how hard is this to achieve.  i heard that some kits come with brackets, but i dunno.

Bumpers are bolted to the frame, all you
need to do is pull off the covers if you don't
mind ugly bumpers, but if you want the covers
to stay on the trucklet, you need some riser
brackets to lift the bumper mount points up

For the rear of mine after I installed a 3" bodylift.
I used some 1 1/2"inch x 3"inch tubing and welded a nut inside of it

There is 3 on the rear of my 4dr and self tapping screws to hold the bottom of the bumper to the rig.
On the front, there is 2 on top of the frame to raise the bumper and 0 on the bottom. hasn't fallin of yet but I'm waiting for the ShrockWorks Front Winch bumper to get done and shipped.

HotRod,
I appreciated seeing your info on the bumper lift.  Now I can't yet think of a reason not to make a body lift. (like Heather and Nate's).
thanks
Jeff

With Heather and Nates help, they made it sound so easy, I had to do it to my D.D.
BTW "Wow" what a forum change, It's gonna take a while to get use to it.
