OK, what's the preferred way for everyone to prevent their rig from disappearing? O'Reillys sells a steering wheel lock that interlopes the steering wheel and also goes down to the pedals, like $25. I have seen how to defeat the club, and this looks a tad better, anyone else have any other devices?

IMO it all about theft deterrance (and also not having theft enhancement)
for example ...
"ARB" and "Calmini" stckers can be theft enhancers since the thief knows he can get some money out of just certain parts.
That $2000 gps/dvd/playing stereo is a theft enhancer.
A blinking red light on the dash can be a theft determent (they'll pass since it *might* have an alarm).
A "club" or other *visible* "lock" is a theft determent (e.g. not worth the bother when the guy next to you has "ARB" stickers and a $2000 stereo)
Just my $0.01.1 (2 cents after taxes)

also if you never wash it and throw some trash in the floorboards and seats , mayde a lot of empty quarts of oil etc . works for me ;D most of the time i leave my keys in it ;)
if you dont advertise ,thump your sterio, put scare stickers on it etc i dont think a thief is going to look at a trackick

Yeah alot of guys on here have subs and amps, I couldn't do that, I would be nervous about them walking off. Mesjr, I live in Westport, alot of cars disappear in this neighborhood, but I am moving in 2 weeks or so, so hopefully my new neighborhood will be better.

Keep truck unlocked at all times, top down, windows down and nothing of value in the vehicle.
Drive around in mud and never wash it.
like other post said keep it full of trash!
Put a fake doggy poop in drivers seat!
Put T case shift in neutral when not in truck. Most thieves are too stupid to figure it out. Would be cool to have a removable T case shift handle!
But a CLUB or other locking wheel device is a good deterent. Some of the manufacturers offer monetary warranties if the vehicle is stolen with their device in use.
Track/Kicks arent in high demand by auto thieves so if one is stolen it is by someone looking for a quick ride and the thief is probably not equipped with the Club defeating tools etc.
Here is some other quick tips:
have a fuel pump switch hidden somewhere so if it is stolen it won't get to far.
Or an ignition cutoff switch.
Or even easier a hidden battery switch!
Those ideas really work!
Lastly; get as assault rifle, bottles of No-Doze, and guard the truck 24/7 ! ! !
OK just joking. . .

I used to be a repo man....I can have that club off your truck faster then you can blink! The one that goes to the pedals is no better.
Lock the doors! that is the best you can do. Set the parking brake if you have one, and cut the wheels to lock.
If someone wants your truck bad enough......they WILL have it!
Not trying to scare you....just telling how it is!

So true
But the lucks just keeps people honest.
Engine kill switch works good.
The club is still okay. Must car theives don't carry the tools to remove the club. mostly a screwdriver is all they carry and a crack pipe.

I have a device called the "Clutch Claw", positions over the clutch and brake pedal, with a "stand" down to the floorboard so the thief cannot use either pedal because it's blocking the downward motion. Sturdy piece of antitheft
http://www.centinel.org.uk/clutch_claw.htm
and I have an immobilizor installed ( that sometimes drives me crazy trying to un-immoblize it, stick the key in several times before it "un-locks" )

I just put my rig in my pocket, and don't leave it laying around where the stealers can get it...
Seriously - I take the faceplate off the stereo, and take it with me, and that's about it. My kid had his car stolen - they figured they just winched it up onto a flat-bed, and took it - didn't even bother with the door locks.
-
It's simple:
1. Locks the doors.
2. Park next to all the expensive cars. ;D

Hey man! I didn't know you were moving.
Where to?

HAFA-ADAI, Jo-Jo!!!! I am moving up to the NKC area of town, a tad safer up there- 169 and N Oak area. I will NEVER lock my doors, I just bought my top, don't wanna buy another!!

hidden switch cutting off whatever works the best. but there is really no way to protect it completly, if they want it they will take it "."
my best solution is to make it harder to take(in other words dont leave the keys in it) and make it undesirable (trash inside, smell like vomit, ect.)

jojo's got the idea, cept my lj's not street legal, and neither are those :P.... how bout just do like bicycle owners do, take off the seat, maybe a tire... and chain it up to be safe ;D .... I do kinda like the idea of a detachable t-case shifter though... im gona stop thinkin before i get carried away now.

i just put an alarm with engine imobilizer. the imobilizer is rigged to the ignition, fuel pump, and starter. the alarm has switches on all doors, and impact sensor, and a dual proximity sensor. try jacking it up, and it goes off, open the doors it goes off. stick your hands inside it goes off, and if you get too close is churps.
oh and if i hear it going off while i'm sleeping, there is an armed response "colt 1911" ;)

Around Vivion and North Oak?
That sounds a lot better than Westport. At least you won't have everyone in town getting drunk in your neighborhood on a friday/saturday night. Plus you are near the best Suzuki dealer in the Metro, Northtowne!
I live with in SE Independence with the retired folks...

I work in Independence. I bought my "family car" from Northtowne Hyundai, that is the best people I have ever dealt with as far as buying a vehicle.
