Title: 1.6 engine mounts
Post by: mudbug on April 11, 2005, 10:58:36 AM
What engine mounts do I need to use to put the 1.6 in a Sammy?

Can I use the original ones in the Sammy?

Can I cut the ones out of the donor vehicle and weld them to the Sammy frame?

Is it best to get the mounts from a manufacturer (i.e. Petroworks)?

HELP!!!!!

I have not done this before and want to know all that I can before I run into any problems.

I have the engine out of the donor vehicle and am getting ready to clean it up for the install.

It was done on my Sammi with the original enginemounts, just the right one had to be re-drilled, that's all !

Info on the swap:

Do you think that I will have to change the oil pan if I have already put the Calmini Shackle reverse on, it is lifted 2 inches above stock height.  I think that I am going to get the Rocky Road adapter plate and engine mount relocators?

To be honest, I also have the Calmini SR ( 3" on mine ) but didn't check if the oilpanchange was really needed, just went ahead and did it anyway.

When we did my Sammi, i beleive the pass. side mount can be reused from the Sammi and you can combine the motor end from the donor car w/the Zuk end of the Sammi mount on the driver side.  If you have access to a welder that is.  I'll post some pics if I get the chance, but it might be a while, the LawDog is over at RealRedSammi's house with a bum clutch right now.
