Title: another dumb question for the ZukiWorld hive mind
Post by: TheRedHorseman on April 04, 2005, 06:02:50 AM
on the main bearing caps for the 1.3 liter, do the arrows on the caps point to the front or the rear?

yes I spun a bearing and I think after checking clearance I put them on backwards.  I'm thinking they are supposed to point towards the front but I'm not sure.

btw, the 2/3 spark plug swap let it fire right up, but now I've got a bearing problem for sure.  will the madness ever end?

Main caps as well as rod cap and the
arrow on the top of the piston all point
forward, did you spin a rod or main ???

ok, turns out that I didnt destroy anything, the flywheel bolts came loose on me >:(
so I re-installed them to factory torque spec +5 lbs and blue loc-tited them.  if they come out now I'll be amazed.

A friend of mine did a clutch job before selling me a car.  two weeks later, I heard this horrible grinding soun, followed by clunking.  turns out, he lost one of the bellhousing bolts, but never bothered to look for it, it's only a 4 cyl mustang.  I  had to go over a bump for the flywheel to hit it lying under the flywheel and start smashing it around..... I thought I lost the tranny

the bad part is that I just got done rebuilding the stupid thing, so I would have been REALLY peeved if I had to do it again.
