Title: side kick lift
Post by: madvitara on April 11, 2005, 08:38:09 AM
I've just finished lifting my vitara (sidekick)

Since in the UK we get a huge import tax on calmini bits i went for a different approach

I cut the front of the chassis/frame off lowered it by 4" and welded it back on. On the rear i removed and refitted the spring platforms by the same amount. 2" lift springs alround, and a modified rear top link, now its extended and mounted on top of the axle case. bigger tyres (metric ones same diameter as 31") now fit with only minor trimming.

Now i've got 8" extra clearance under the center of the chassis

anyone else done this mod?

I'll post some B4 and after once i work out how to do

I'm still waiting to get mine done..  I prefer this over the suspension lift cause you keep your normal cvshaft angles and you can cruise the highway in winter for hours in 4 high

Put your pic's on the internet (if you don't have any space yourself try explo's uploader: http://www.omghi2.us/upload/ )
then put the URL (internet adress) of the pic between {img} {/img} but with the { hooks being [ in a post/topic and you're done  ;)

i did somthing simular, i put in a 3in body lift in and cut the center of the frame out and moved it up 3 inches to the stock place, i also had to move the engine/trans/Tcase up and work out a few other small things.  i really like the improvement in ground clearance.
