Title: RICER AIR FILTER
Post by: prairie_dog on April 06, 2005, 05:03:16 PM
I just installed this cheapo air filter(30 bucks) that's like free in US dollars.  It's made by Reactive, it's a poor excuse for a K&N cone filter. Performance was noticable instantly, made a little dounut to go from 3" filter to 2" intake tube and still have all the factory stuff under the hood (less the flex tube). The RPM's come up quicker and less drop through the shifts. When I go muddin', just put the flex tube back on ( I wanna play not commit engine suicide ;D) the mud around here usually means a creek or two.
Does anybody know of a 2" cone? I hate the dounut and want smoother air flow(sounds like something from that movie Fast and Furious :-/ :-/)

I have this:

It's a Green Twister Air filter (attached a snorkle to it) will be a bit more expensive but I'm sure It'll help against mud even without snorkle  ;)

I installed the one off of ebay for like 16 bucks. It includes the stainless cross over tube, rubber coupling adapter, K&N style air filter and some basic support aluminium straps and what not..

In my opinion this is a rocking deal considering you can't even get a generic K&N at autozone for less than 20 bucks.

When I floor it I can hear that really neat throaty import sound from the intake.

Definitly worth the 16 dollar investment...

I also have a flat k&n filer in the stock air box.  I wonder if removing the stock intake pipe and attaching a real K&N cone filter would show any improvement.
???
If anyone has tried both, whats the verdict?
