Title: Tire report

Well I finally got my new tires mounted to the cheapo rims I'd picked up ...

I went with 31x10.50 Yokohama Geolandar's ... they are nice and meaty, but *very* quiet on pavement. Downside is I expect they'll wear fast, but good and soft when offroad (probably 50% of the hours are going to be non-pavement anyway).

I wanted to give an update on my impressions of these yoko tires ...

First off, soft is an understatement. I run on the "street" at 22psi, but airdown to 16psi "offroad" and they swallow terrain. By that I mean, at 16psi, it looks like I'm running 8psi in a BFG.

I also have a spool in the rear and I feel these suckers grip HARD on wet pavement (at 22psi too). Offroad, they have been fantastic. They cleanout the muck well, and grab just like an LTB would.

Wear is still an issue to me, and I haven't rotated (been only about 2000 miles). I drive to the trail and back (plus some runs to the local store), so they are seeing pavement time ...

mabey you would want to run more air in the rear tires for a little less traction on pavment.  thats what i do, i run about 33 PSI in my 34's on the pavment to try to lose alittle traction.  just a sugestion(sp)

P.S.  have you had any probs with you auto hubs???

I have had these tires in the 33" flavor on my sammie for a while now. Now I must say I havent really driven it in the last 2 years but, I daily drove it for about 3 years with thse tires. Wear was not an issue till I put the spool in. Then they wore about 3 times as fast on the street. But then I expected that with a spool. As far as offroad goes they were ok. They got great traction in most all terrain but lacked the side traction/shoulder lugs of a swamper. I only missed that part of the time. Keep in mind they are directional tread, and dont like being turned around very well. Dont ask me why I know this. Overall a great mild mud tire.

After running LTB Swampers, even
those MTs look like All Terrains
