Eric, is this a suzuki only run. I really want to go due to the fact is is so close to home(John Day).My samurai is more of a offroad only rig but I also have a lexus LX450(Landcruiser FZJ80) that is my expedition vehicle and was wondering if I could take it. It has ARB's front and rear, 35"toyo open countrys, ect. I have met you in John Day a few years back while you were on this trip and it seemed like you had some jeeps with you.

Hey Howdy Hi!

Um, I'm sorry but I don't remember meeting you but that's par for the course with my memory. Why wouldn't you want to take your Samurai? I've done that whole route and plan to finish it with my Red Samurai, "Wedgee".

If you still don't want to take your Samurai, PM me and we can talk.

Starting to put the trip together. I will post information as it develops. New stuff:

We'll meet in John Day, Friday the 2nd, 2:00 PM (place TBD) and head into the bush. Camp on the trail Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
Head Home Monday 5th.

This time schedule shortens the trip one day and should make it easier to attend.

Route will include many, many sites to see.

I know not all the info is in yet but there's enough for a good idea. Please reply to this thread with your name and a percentage of how likely you are to go. Also, if you have a buddy who wants to go but is not online. Please include them.

For example, me:

Yeah, I'm not sure how many people are going to head over Friday. Some are going to mosey over starting Thursday. I'll be at the Pine Cone restaurant I-5 & HWY 34 leaving at 8:30 AM. You're more than welcome. If you're late, no problem, I'll meet you in John Day! :)

I'm planning to finish my trailer today so I can bring a chain saw and a few extras.

I might also move a little slower so I guess I'm still on the fence between Thursday and Friday.

Have any idea what the regulations are on chain saws and fires, where we are headed?

I'll let you know for sure by Thursday afternoon, if we are leaving early.

Anyone heading out Thursday, any "carpooling" going on?

Yeah, we're probably going to be going pretty fast. As far as fires and chainsaws and stuff.. That's out...

It'll be cooking with coleman's and lantern lights only. no campfires...

It was a great time. I hadn't spent any time in this part of Oregon before so the scenery was just amazing. We also ended up spending time in a mining town called Sumpter which was having some sort of carnival. It was like a big fair going on with a mining and western theme. Way fun... the pictures of the restored gold dredge and of other mining memorbilia should be inspiring. Oh yeah, there was natural wonders too! :)
