Title: Q&A: The Fall Classic POSTPONED
Post by: ebewley on April 17, 2005, 01:57:25 PM
Question and Answer Thread for the 2005 Adventure Series Event: LaPine, OR.,  Ft. Rock, Crack in the Ground, and Christmas Valley. Date Nov 18-20

The Fall Classic Many geologic features to see ending at Christmas Valley. A huge very unpopulated recreational dunes area. This adventure will have a talk from a Western Oregon University Geology expert. Plus lots of sand-spitting, axle-twisting, throttling action as we traverse the wide open and dramatic dunes in Christmas Valley.

If you can make it, this ride is cool  8) Awesome scenery during the cross country ride (and the guides arent half bad either  ;)

No go for me this year  :'( I'm flying back to TN on the 10th to spend that weekend cleaning and painting the house to sale and then driving the Kick down to FL that Saturday. THEN I have to get everything for the companied regional meeting the following weekend (at our office  :o ) OH well, that's how new jobs usually go. I'll definately make a few next year  8)

Everything is fine, weather out there is going to be great, clear skies at night and an almost full moon. Only problem is, due to work issues, vacations, family events, only two rigs were for sure. We had a huddle and decided to reschedule when more people can enjoy this weekend trip with us.

I wonder too.  :( Unfortunately, it's hard to plan with only maybe and/or no communication. Ahh, the nature of the beast. Anyway, where are you guys headed? Christmas Valley Dunes? There is some wheeling that would be closer for you guys if your interested. The MVC run that Davey posted will be up by Detroit Lake which is on the way to where you are probably headed. It's on Saturday.

Good luck, have fun, and take some pictures! -Eric

My family and I are very interested in doing this trip in the spring!  We were planning on going this time but some unforseen mechanical issues forced us to reconsider.  ???  Hope we can do this trip in spring! Or summer!??

All we need is at least 5 rigs w/people that can commit on a weekend. We can do it anytime but the fall time is definitely the best to get out there.

I live in Bend!!!!!!!!!  Come mid-spring (Aprilish), the trails start to get real rutted and the mud gets nice.  Still thinking about this run?

Yes, but it'll be in the fall. I'm not one of 'those guys' that goes out in the spring and makes the ruts in the middle of the roads! :) I leave that up to the cattle and sheep.

Water makes the ruts, I just cross em.  Like to get the suspension flexing, and I'm the tread lightly type of guy.

I think there will be a group of us going out in that area in May. Let's hook up then.
