Hi y'all,
I'm wondering if anyone has changed the 04 XL7 differential fluid on their own. First time I've a RWD vehicle, so I was wondering where to start off from or perhaps a link to a site that has step by step guide.

On the upper part of back side of the differential, there is a fill hole with a plug. This should be near or higher than the centerline of the axle itself. The drain hole is on the bottom or lowest point of the back side. Before you drain, make sure you can fill. In other words, see if you can open the fill hole first. Then drain. Keep the axle level and this will drain the most of the gear oil. Take a rag and clean off the particles of the magnetic drain plug. Clean as best as you can around the drain hole, replace the proper plug. Fill to fill hole, and plug that.
Good luck.

Id recommend a hand pump to get the fluid out of the container and into the rear.
