Title: Grand Vitara Chronic Stalling
Post by: TJVitara on June 12, 2005, 10:11:19 AM
Any ideas on what is causing intermittent stalling on my 2001 Grand Vitara 4WD Ltd?  I have taken it to the dealership four times and problem still occurs.

Seems to happen most frequently when gas gets below half tank and when sitting idle.  Before visit #3 stalling occured while driving, and some white smoke came out from under car and the car would hesitate on acceleration.

Right now (after visit #4) car idles rough, stalls in idle and hesitates on accelaration.

Any help you can give will be Definitely appreciated!

What happened with each visit:
1.  Replaced recalled Fuel regulator
2.  Emptied gas tank and cleaned out sludge
3.  Replaced fuel pump
4.  Could not figure out problem.

White smoke? Check the coolant. You may have a cracked head or blown gasket (betting on gasket).
