I was looking at the air intake system on my '99 GV and notice an odd part attached to the flexible tube that comes out of the air box. It has the number “77E-ROI stamped on it. Anyone know what the thing is supposed to do? It doesn’t seem to serve any purpose.
Thanks,
Jon.

I know what your talking about but don't know the name for it either. But I think all that it does is hold extra air for the intake.

If it is what I think you are talking about, it is a silencer for the intake. It stops the rushing sound of the intake.

Thanks Cwkick,
That makes sense...

I'm not sure if your version is the same as mine, but mine has a sort of recipient in the fender. Once I dismantled it, and found most about anything that will fit through a 65 mm tube: leaves, grass, little stones, and loads of dust. I can imagine why it is there, to prevent all that going to the air filter. ::)
