Title: What does this part do?
Post by: jSager on April 11, 2005, 10:50:17 AM: I was looking at the air intake system on my '99 GV and notice an odd part attached to the flexible tube that comes out of the air box. It has the number Ã¢â‚¬Å“77E-ROIÃ¢â‚¬? stamped on it. Anyone know what the thing is supposed to do? It doesnÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t seem to serve any purpose.

Post by: Cwkick on April 15, 2005, 07:45:47 AM: If it is what I think you are talking about, it is a silencer for the intake. It stops the rushing sound of the intake.

Once I dismantled it, and found most about anything that will fit through a 65 mm tube: leaves, grass, little stones, and loads of dust. I can imagine why it is there, to prevent all that going to the air filter. ::)
