I wish they could fit. I hate those damn ugly stock rims
-
Shitty lol i was gonna swap the wheels on the truck im selling lol.
-
Don't I wish! There would be a lot more tires available, if I could run 15" rims...
-
Well, I guess that is one reason I'm glad I got a tracker instead. Chevy must have put smaller brakes on their version because it comes with 15's stock. I'm also a little partial to the vynil boddy cladding (in moderation) instead of the body cololr stuff.
-
Are the brakes (rotors, calipers, drums, etc) larger on a Grand Vitara than on my 2003 chevy tracker? Is that why a GV has a 16" wheel while my lowly tracker has 15" wheels?
-
They must be because people keep talking about how the wheels will hit the calipers if you put 15" rims on the GV.
-
all you need to do is get wheel spacers. I had 15inch on my 04 vitara with the spacers. got them from roadless gear.

I'm looking for a set of the 16" GV wheels for my Tracker. I want to put some tall skinny tires on and am pretty limited with 15" rims.

More info on the spacers please.
Also since Suzuki makes the parts for the tracker, why cant we just swap out the parts to get the smaller brakes? It has to be a bolt on process, its just a matter of finding them.

It is not the 15" size that is the problem but the way the wheel sits on the hub. The back of the wheel hits the the caliper at the bolt holes not the inside of the rim. I bought my spacer for about 120 for the set. they bolt onto the stock hub and have new studs on them. You need to be carefull when tighning them and use anti sieze when you install them to the hub. I had a tire shop screw one of mine up using a air gun. I never did try a tracker wheel to see if it would fit without rubbing.

Ill take pics the 15" fit no prob with the 1" wheel spacers.

So with the spacers do the rims stick out of the wheel well?

Hey Ya'll...I'm not sure how this adds to your discussion but the Calmini, 2000 Vitara Project has 31 x 10.50 x 15 BFG ATs on it. The after market wheels have about a one inch offset at the wheel hub, but no spacers of any kind. I do not know which venders wheels these are, but I'll give Steve Kramer a call at Calmini if anyone is interested.
When I put one inch spacers on my wife's 2001 Chevy Tracker, the front end developed quite a vibration and limited the width of tire I could run. The stock wheels and tires had been squirrelly and I wanted a wider firmer stance. The spacers did that but caused the vibration problem. I finally called American Racing Wheels and they recomended a custom 8" wheel with the proper offset to clear the brake calipers and solved my problems. I run 235x60x15s w/ stock suspension. Her Tracker drives like a race car. My Vitara also drives like race car, even with 31x10.50x15s and a 5 1/2 " lift.'

Im gonna drive the truck next week after the lift and spacers are all on and the alignment i hope it does not shake lol.

Just a thought... Samurai rims have more displacement than sidekick rims don't they? Wouldn't this allow for more room for the caliper (at the bolts maybe?).
I just saw a pick of a sidekick with some sami rims and they looked ok...

I have a set of american racing rims the White wagon wheel style -6 offset and it hits this ridge on the inside of the rim ill take pics this weekend.
