Title: Stronger Axles
Post by: Gear on March 01, 2005, 07:43:35 AM
Well after 3 trips and 3 snapped rear left axles, I'm looking at options for the rear axle shafts.  I'm running 31's and F/R air lockers, and I'm snapping them at low rpm trying to pop up small steps.

My options seam to be to replace the rear axles and diff with XL7 parts, but I loose my rear locker....or get spidertrax to make up some axles for the GV to suit the 27 spline side gears they have for the arb airlockers.  This would be my first choice, has anyone done this???

Thanks

Jeff

Mine's still stock so I can't help you much.  Hopefully this summer my wife will get her new car and it will become my toy  ;D

I took a look at your site at nbs4x4club that is a pretty sweet looking rig you have there.  What did you have to do to get the ARB air locker to work?  Was it pretty much all of the stuff listed in the article [link]www.zukiworld.com/month_030104/feature_tsb_shiftontheflyremoval.htm[/link]?

I would be interested to hear what you end up doing for stronger axles.  I plan to end up running 31"s with the Calmini 2.5" and RRO 2" BL.

Thanks ;)

Yep I used that info to help with the install.  The hard part for me in Australia was finding the 26 spline front axle.

I've got the Bigballs 3 inch BL on order :)
