It's not too bad. I took my GV up in the Rockies last August, and it didn't perform too badly. It didn't have the acceleration of my Volvo (turbo, 199hp), but it could definitley hold its own on an incline.

I live at 9,000 feet (2,727 M) elevation in the mountains, west of Denver.  My wife and I work in Denver.  We carpool, and every day, go up and down through about 4,000 feet of elevation change.  The GV 2.5 works great for this!  It's not the 5.9L V8 I have in the BattleCat (Dakota), but it definitely pushes us right along.
