Title: ECM cross referencing?
Post by: Digger on July 19, 2005, 10:09:33 AM
I am getting a 92 4door kick auto with a 16 valve for parts/engine donor and it's computerless. I just grabbed the computer from a 95 2door auto Tracker with a 16 valve from the pull-it yard. The plugs look the same and my confidence is high that the computer I grabbed works because the tracker was obviously running when it became junk(the front end was smashed). Does anyone know if this computer would work in the 92? The sticker says 33920-70EB across the top and US-3AT across the bottom...

I would also go back to the yard and see if the 95 is obd2, look for a wire underneath the front of the oil pan, if it is there I would say no unless you get the harness and the oil pump and dist. also. ;D

It will not fit your 92. 92 2doors have 8 valves which have different computers

Mike, the 92 is a 4door and most definately a 16 valve. The computer came from a 95 2door with a 16 valve, both autos...

Hey digger, I looked around the shop and found a ecm with the same numbers as yours and plugged it into my 1993-4 5 speed rig and it ran great,my book says your numbers are for 1994-5 so if your running an auto I would just check to see if the trannys are the same, plug and play.

With neither rig running, and one really junked up front, how do I tell if the autos are 3 or 4 speeds?

Darn this small screen....

Just saw that you had the US-3AT,yes that defines the computer as US spec 3spd automatic.

The difference between the 3spd and the 4spd is the 4spd has an overdrive, if I remember right it shows as a D with a circlea round it on the PRNDL.
