The interior looks awesome and the exterior looks good too. I was hoping to get more details on the guts of the truck (gearing, frame (or not), axle setup, etc....) I guess I'm going back to the I want more info tab like the movie said.

It has similarities to many of the modern SUV out there today but there are nice differences that set it apart, itÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s "muscular" or squared off shape, the hood definitely has some Sidekick styling influences, and great approach and departure angles. The grill work is very nice with cues from earlier Suzuki vehicles and looks much better to me than the European and Japanese variants. I'm excited to see one and can't wait to drive it.

As a modern competitive SUV I think it looks like a pretty neat piece. NIce mix of proven and new technology.

But who on this board can afford it....I know I couldn't and it's alot more complex a unit than I would want.

I really wish Suzuki would get back to their roots, how about a modern SideKick priced to be attainable, how about a new Swift that goes back to the theme of the originals.

I was attracted to the Suzuki's because they were well built, well engineered basic vehicles that performed exceptionally well in there classes.

" I want them back!!!"

I'm sure this new unit is well engineered, well built and will do well in the market, but Suzuki please come home!

I also can't tell, but I suspect it's unibody as well.

Styling is nicer than most of the competition, but a shame it's not a true 4x4.

From what I've read the new grand vitara is based on the same unibody platform as it's GM cousins but uses a Suzuki derived powertrian ;D you can't get selectable 4wd on any of the GM units it's AWD or FWD so thats a huge difference also the interior and controls look far superior I'm really looking foward to driving one of these things thanks for the info eric ;)

i agree with zag that suzuki should get back to their roots, and sell more basic vehicles. most of these new cars with all there devices like multiple airbags, climate controls, and sensors up the wazoo, are all basicly what i refer to as five years vehicles. after five years small things that cost alot to fix start to show up. basic cars tend to cost less, and are easier to fix.

now all jeep has to do is come out with a deisel rubicon, and they'll have a real winner. to me the jimny is would sell like crazy in north america. atleast in my opinion it would.

but anyway the new vitara is for yuppies Ã‚Â >:(

As far as a trail rig goes, it sure would be nice to see the Jimny come over here or even see something new and simple with a frame and SOLID AXLES come over from Suzuki again Smaller than the Vitara with a nice little deisle in it and an off road package. ;D

Granted it's probably not going to be a builder for huge tires but as a daily driver it would rock. Just the fact that it has a standard transmission rocks. Hmm I think I might have to trade in my dodge on one of these guys. Some 1" coil spacers and some Goodyear MTR's and that would be a great looking rig! Add a low profile roofrack and you got a great expedition vehicle. Did anyone check out the warranty? That warranty is killer!

Good Job suzuki. First late model that has caught my eye!

sad but true....

last night I was mudding it in the field beside work (becuz it was there) and a guy stopped and said you must be bored!!....i was not but the fact remains that we see mud rocks a trail we don't know and say SWEET!!! when others say why?

I like the looks of this new Vit and it will be a wonderful driver w/ very light off road Perrrrfect for today

I can assure you that 15 years from now nobody will be chatting on a board about how much they love thier 06 GV. Suzuki needs to take a look back at what made them what they are today. Beloved hardcore Suzuki enthusiasts will dissipate with this lineup. If Suzuki built a new Sami/tracker replacement I run out and buy one today. Not these things with power everything seating 10. They are nice but not a Sami/Kick replacement. Something that has removable top, 5 speed, real frame, Tcase, under 3000lbs, and under 15k. If they build that I will be very happy.

Its sad, everyone here sounds just like the guys on a Kia Sportage BBS I visit from time to time, the real frame Sportage is gone replaced by a unibody thing that's from the Hyundai Elantra :(

I have been checking out jimny's here in Singapore as I have been stuck here for the last 3 weeks working on a project for work. The Jimny is small. I was thinking it was sidekick sized but really it's samurai sized. they are pretty cool though. I am going to head to the only dealership in Singapore this weekend to see one up close. Suzuki has some cool cars out that you can't get in the US. The IGNIS is pretty cool up close and I guess hauls ass and handles like a sports car..

still keep the MPG figures where there at. If other manufacturers(Kia,Hyundai) can do it cheaply so can they.

And "they" really liked what corporate relative Saab did with the AWD turbo WRX wagon...that's it. that's all.

It's coming (one of the V6 GM Global engines) but it will be in a bigger replacement for the XL-7.
