Title: 5.83 update
Post by: cj on July 23, 2005, 04:33:22 PM
Well after much pondering and hunting I now have two solutions at the same time. I have just found a new rear 5.83 R&P but it will cost more than the Calmini price as it is coming out of another country. I also have found a cheapish D44 out of a Scout II that I could put a 5.89 in. It has the same stud pattern, centered diff and the wms to wms is only 1" wider and I would end up with 1.31" 30 spline axles as well. But it will mean more fabbing to fit and shaving the diff for clearance and I will need to buy a new ARB locker as mine won't swap over. I was considering shaving my diff anyway and doing Mike's axle rotation anyway so with selling my rear end complete it may make it not too much more $$$ to put the D44 in. Just the budget's going to take  pounding in the short term.

OOOOOOOOOOh wellllllllllllllllllllll, it was worth a shot, I still have to put my hybred rear in my sammie, only have had the chunks sitting in my living room for about two years, took my lockers out of the stock diffs and put them in the lower gears two years ago but having too much fun messing with the built heeps in the club on the runs, would like to get one for the winter here driving with a loc-rite on ice is no fun, plus the noise they make while driving around town, I will have to start saving up.
