Title: It is alive, alive I tell you Silly ECM
Post by: ussexplorer on March 30, 2005, 03:22:14 PM
92 suzuki sidekick JLX alive after over 1 month and big bucks.

Well, I got the computer in. Used ECM from a junkyard. Paid way to much but I figured I'll send the old one in to fix and keep it as a spare. As for the missing brackets. Yes, I need to go recover them from the garage. The unit that came from the junkyard had the missing bracket and two relays. So it fired right up. Blew a little smoke on startup (Been doing that for years now) but that is normal for such a high milage engine.

Next on the list is tires, Followed by radiator and timing belt with a few extra things.  Then I can start dreaming of other things like fog lights, seat covers, etc, etc, etc.

Later,

Josh

P.S. Thanks for all the help.

Another ECU that bit the dust. I wonder which bit went.

One thing to remember is the ECM cannot
diagnose it's self, so if it's bad, it can't tell
you, it only diagnoses the sensor inputs,
and records the codes when it detects an
input that is not normal

Um, no spark, and no power to the fuel pump. It must have been going out for a while since my truck seems to running really good now. I can't explain it. Just seems to perform overall better. So I expect it was messing wih other stuff too.
