Hi all, im going to buy an affordable 4WD and im pretty sure ill end with a 1999/2000 Vitara, manual (havnt decided if 2 or 4 door, if 4 for sure id look for the 2 litres engine), reading here and there i found that the chevy tracker came out the same assembly line and its supposed to be the same thing.
The thing is that i noticed a difference in price in between the two (comparable models obviously). So, are they exactly the same thing? Completely interchangeable and with absolutely no differences that would make someone choose the Vitara over the Tracker?

i had a 2000 chevy tracker and the only reason i bought it over the suzuki was i was able to get the tracker cheaper. the only differences was mostly cosmetic items and options. mechanically both vehicles are the same.
derek

Both vehicles are mechanically the same. Except the "99 2-door Trackers were "available" with a dressed up 1.6 Liter that had idividual coil packs on top of each plug.
The Suzuki models have a better warranty and cost a little more, while the Chevy models hold their value longer and cost a little less.
