Check over on Pirate for dual sammy cases.  It has been done a few times but there are a few issues that make it a pain.  The cases are underdriven in high range (1.41:1) so when you add in a second case you end up with a high range of 1.99:1.  Almost as low as the stock low range.  The way the cases are mounted also makes it really difficult to come up with a solid mounting method for two cases.  You are better off looking at using a sidekick trans and tcase and putting them in front of the sammy case.  There are several examples of homebrew methods that work well for this.

The 1.6 is a reasonably straightforward swap for the 1.3. It has been done lots of times so there is plenty of info and lots of people to give advice. The 1.3 responds very well to a Weber carb and header (around same peak power as the 1.6, less torque). Weber can give problems on steep inclines. Zaggy is the man for tuning Zuk engines.
