i'd say take the cat right out, and do a full 3" system with a flow master muffler

Boy thats a project I've always wanted to do!

IMHO if it was me I would
- Remove the exhaust from the manifolds back (except the stubs that attach to the manifold)
- Run a full DUAL 2 1/4" exhaust front to back with a balance tube about 28" back from the
  manifolds (removable)
- Dual cats
- Dual good quality Turbo style mufflers

If it worked 1/2 as well as it has on all the V-8's I've done it too you should get a real neat sound (being a V-6 it should be very European sedan sounding) and a buch more power and better gas mileage.
Combined with a good aircleaner system I think it would be awesome!

Never had a chance to try it, but theres no reason it shouldn't work, it has on every other
V engine I have ever done it to.

Wouldn't 2 1/4 be too big? Rob some low end torque. I think a 2" with an X pipe instead of your H pipe would work well also! BUt I agree, I bet it would sound sweet!

Hey Chief

I think 2 1/4 would be about right and I have found the H pipe set up beefs up the torque really well on S-10 V-6's (2.8/4.3) and other V-8's I've done it too.....and the sound is so sweet on a V-6, gives that nice BMWish/Jagish 6 cylinder tone.

Maybe I'll try the 2" w/ an H pipe on the 95 Tracker I maybe getting!

What are some good places to buy the pipe and muffler from?

Hey Chief
I hope the new toy has a V something engine....or this exhaust wn't work, only good for v6's/v8's etc. If it's a 4 the good old header and 2 1/8 is IMHO the solution.

I'm lazy, I get an exhaust shop to do 99% of my underside exhaust work but would imagine any decent parts store will have what you need.
