Well after looking at my sidekick with 20s i think it is time to find something to look cooler on xl 7. my first plan was to go with 24 inch rim and 305/35/24 tires which would be around 33x12.50 tire. But after much thought a 11 inch wide rim will not fit under with a postive offset. so my second choice is a 22x9.5 with a 5 and 1/4 back side setting which well work and a 305/40/22 tire. Now here is my question how high would i have to lift it to fit those tires? I'm not offroading it as it will be a soccer mom suv type vehicle for my wife. And will the axles and hold up under normal road driveing its a 2005 xl exII.

I'm not sure there is any lifts out there that'll let you fit a 33" tall tire at the moment. That's pretty big plus you're wanting to run just a little back spacing too, right? SO, it'd stick out a bunch and the radius or arc of the front wheels when you turn is going to be huge. I'm just not sure it's possible with the current selection of bolt on lifts... Keep us posted with your progress.

sick of 20's? my friend put 20's on his CRV and it was perfect. I think bigger than 20's on a small suv like the XL is overkill. i'd love to see a picture of it though, i've only seen a hand full of GV's with 20's here in L.A. but no XL-7's yet.

Hey Suzuki 1.8
Aren't you going the wrong way....tire like that you should be lowering...right?
Seriously, I always thought that the XL7 would be trick on a set of retro AR Coke bottles with some serious 50's/60's and lowered. But hey I'm an old guy.

A 33" tire isn't a problem. BUT, the width will do you in once in a turn. I had 235/85s on mine with the Calstinky lift and Rocky Road Body Lift and no troubles, moved to a 10.5" wide tire and had major rub while turning. Stepped back to a 265/70/16 (31x10.5) and have had very little issues. So I think a tire wider than 10" is going to be the major issue unless you do some major work to the floor board tin up front. The rest can be trimmed and shaped to conform to the space required pretty easily. Their is guy on the board in Russia that is running 33x12.5 but he had custom springs made I believe to get more height.

Wow i got to say i'm embarressed but i never thought of posting this on the xl7 post. ::) I guess i'm so used to the sidekick one. I'm not sick of 20s but i already got a sidekick sport with 20s and it's lowered. so i was looking at the xl7 thinking i need to do something to it. Its my only vehicle with out a suspension mods and aftermarket wheels and tires. So if width is a problem what if i find a rim the tucks it more in the vehicle? The narrowest wheel i could that will fit is a 9.5 i could find a smaller tire and more narrow but that wouldn't look as cool. I am willing to put fender flares on and roll the body and trim. But this is a street vehicle so its more for pretty boy looks.

Oh and zag that is awsome you still remember our touqe thurst wheel. "aka coke bottle" Not to many people rememeber that wheel started the whole after market wheel trend and was named one of the hundred speed parts to change the automovtive industrie. So i guess it would be fitting since suzuki is going to change the suv market! ;D I also get mad when people think the crager wheel was the original one >:(
