Title: 94 Tracker powersteering issues w/SAS
Post by: Skunk on August 18, 2005, 08:49:13 AM
OK, got the SAs all done and it works great.... the damn thing is unstopable..... now.... the power steering setup is still stock, and the pump is blowing the pressure sensor out of the side of the pump very often.... does anyone else have this issue? also, lastnight the pump acutally froze up and stalled the engine.

I heard about using toy boxes but what years work (IFS) and whats involved in converting it to the toy stuff?

thanx

That just doesn't sound like much fun :-\
I'm not sure about the conversion, but I believe that CALMINI had a conversion kit for the Sami's that should work. Also I thing one of the other vendors were selling the whole system for the conversion.
I can just hope that someone breaks in here that knows more than I. But I would check with the vendors for the brackets and stuff first.  O.K. well second after trying this post.

well, I took the pressure switch off and welded the hole in the middle of it shut, put it back on and it works fine now, now I had the wire that went to it just hangin, so, I fingured out that it just gets a ground from the pump, and when the circuit is closed it simply ups the idle about 500rpm, so, I ran that wire to a relay and switch on my dash so that I have a switch to up the idle when needed for winching and stuff.
I also then remembered that I have a toyota steering box, pump, and lines from when I got my axles so thats my next project, I guess I just need to find a pitman arm that with work with that box.

Going to push-pull steering is kinda backwards... I'd find an IFS box to do a crossover setup... actually, that's exactly what I am doing ;D
