Anyone know of a proper and safe way to disconnect airbags on a Tracker? I have a 98 2dr soft top with 4WD and auto trans. I have been told that unplugging them or pulling a fuse can make them inflate when reconnected. Anyone know the true story on this?

disconnect the battery and then push the brake pedal for 20 - 30 seconds. this takes any stored voltage out of the system then it is safe to remove them. make sure all air bag components are reinstalled and then re connect battery. never connect the battery when working on the system!

Air bags are always active, even with the
ignition off, and they do store aux power
to inflate the bags even if the battery is
somehow knocked loose before the impact
that would deploy the bags.

It's a bit hard to print these pages but they save OK and the links connect back to the online pages.
