Title: Engine swap.
Post by: Autobot on August 22, 2005, 02:10:43 PM
How hard would it be to swap out the 1.6 in my 2k Tracker to the newer 2.0 engine?  Or even maybe the GV v6? What is involved in swapping motors? I would love to have more power in my truck. I love my Track, but sometimes it just seems so sluggish.

Any thoughts or info is appreciated. This isn't really a plan for anytime soon, I was just wondering how feasible it would be.

There was a thread in the main board a couple weeks ago that had some good info on 2.0 1.6 swapin'. I think it was called "easy motor swaps" or something... Try a search on 1.8 and 2.0 swaps

Good luck, Eric

Seems like the 2.0 would  be the easier of the two. Unless would you also need a new tranny and dash instruments from a 2.0 donor as well?

Also a couple of the posts mentioned needing a machined flywheel. Can't you just take that off another Track/GV?
