how strong r the auto trannyscompared to the standard. i am looking at getting another tracker soon and was wondering if it is even worth my time to consider an auto. i would like to have the easiness of the auto for rocks. my consern is durability

I love my 3-speed auto in my '95 tracker ;D the 3-speed has no computer controls so there's alot less to worry about I've wheeled hard with the truck for about a year and half and had no problems ;D also the auto's came with either 4.30's or 4.62's in the axles which means cheap and easy swap to 5.12's out of a 5-speed I would diffinetly get a 3-speed again ;D

i did the swap from manual to auto, love it. beet the crap out of it. on 35s with rear locker and 512s. works awosome. have an extra tranniee and t-case thinking of swaping it again. new one is a four speed. ;D

When you swap in a 3spd auto where a 5spd was is there anything else that needs to be changed to make it work properly besides the obvious trans, torque conv, flywheel and shifter. Thanks for any info you can shed. :)

I don't know I've never done it but I'm thinking of putting a 3-speed in my tintop with a 1.6 VW diesel should be different :P
-
Does anyone know for sure if anything else is needed. I need to replace mine soon and I'm thinking of going auto if it's not too much hassle. Thanks :)

My 3 speed auto has now outlived
2 engines and the 2nd one was with
the turbo, I think the 3 speed auto
is tough enough, I don't know how
well the Aisin 4 speed trans holds
up tho
