Sounds like a cool idea man!  There's a bunch of people with different motors in their sammis, but I can't say off the top of my head who has a 90 degree gm V-6 in theirs.  Theres gotta be someone out there who's done it though, so it's definetly possible.  What are you planning on using for a tranny?

I thought the 4.3L was a 90* motor, and the 3.1/3.4/3.8 were 60* motors?

I think that explosivo is correct.

Explosive your close

2.8/3.1/3.4 are 60 degree motors

3.3/3.8 (both buick and chev)/4.3 are 90 degree motors

of this I am positive as I am in tonight assembling the un-supercharged version of the 3800 for a job we are doing......

FWIW

I think that the most underrated engine that never gets brought up for these swaps is the Nissan VG30E that came in the Pathfinder.......light/powerful/auto and std's availabile.

I've actually got that on my hunt list (aka watching for a donor)
I'd prefer the VQ series since it's all aluminum ... (4 liter from a frontier :o, but probably the 3.5 liter from a pathfinder).

Pity you are not up here!

I've got a 3.0/5 speed I'm dissmantling at the shop..tested excellent. I prefer the 3.0L's simply because they are abosolutely indestructible. The larger later engines gave grief once in a while (not very darn often though) and if you stumble on a 300zx Turbo you can steal the Turbo set up and add more goodies.

A lot lighter than the Domestic Iron too.......

For the died in the wool "Merican Iron" Dudes....I'm just finishing building a 3800 and will post pics at the end of the day before I install it.

Hey Wild, I have a buick 3800 w/ suprecharger at my shop ;D The prob. with that setup is if it didnt come from a rear wheel drive car you wont be able to find an adapter. Also the intake will face the firewall. So in short try to get one from a rear wheel drive car. Been there done that ;)

thanks ppltrk
the motor is from my daily driver that i am getting ready to retire it, but it is high milage ( company car ) so blu book is low and alot of the creature comforts  eg.  power seat button  rear air and various other gadtrtry is starting to act up but the 3800 is going strong and i get about 28 mpg which is awesome  and it has plenty of power especially for my sami. but if the aformentioned issues are a problem then i will probably do 16v 1.6 conversion.  the supercharger is built by a renown co ( cant think of who at the moment and works great )  could i use it on a 4.3  or the 16v 1.6?
i am planning on using the calmini 5.? tc gear set with the toy v6 axles with 5.29 gears and i use stock tj coils in rear ( see bottom of pic ) and yj springs in front extended 4.5 inches in front wheel base  is 108 and i plan on running the lighest 36's or 35's out there.

The super would probly be around the right displacement for the 4.3 but way too massive for the 1.6 IMO.

I'll post pics of the enngine I just fininshed later and you can see the problem areas.

i am a jack of all and master of none but i have a great support group with the kansas krawlers and this forum i feel will be invaluable for all the concepts such as birfields and all kinds of other things i am not accoustomed too. or to.?   i feel i am ready to do a custom drivetrain swap  when i say custom i mean bits and pieces of others ingenuity applied in my unique way ha ha ha . what a way to explain automotive plagerism ... anyway i was also thinking of going to a 22re  motor so i could use toyotas infamous doubler capabilities.  i really enjoyed what i learned jhust reading your recent rebuild thread and have increased my familiarity 10 fold since i read it. thanks again and i am kicking this thing in gear in two weeks and hopefully have it ready by 3rd week in oct.   i wouldnt bet on it happening but ive got the time and resources if i can just motivate   i have to move during the next two weeks so thjat is the delay    btw i type fast   not well.!

Hey Kevin, I don't think the intake pointing the wrong way
would be much of a problem, but I think the rear exit is from
the collector, then it blows thru the intercooler.

I studied one in the wrecking yard one day, and Zaggy, as far
as being too big, how about we spin it at half speed and reduce
the drag on the 1.6 engine, plus this gives future boost increases

 ;D

Good idea on slowing it down....

But why bother, if I am going to get blown I want it for free, no horsepower robbing drive systems. (did I just write that?).

With things trying to get back to normal at my end I want to get back to project RallyKick and I have that brand new Isuzu 1.5 Turbo sitting here looking for a home.

Heres the pics I promised yesterday....

Ã‚    This is a 1995 Buick 3800 normally aspirated...I just changed crank/2 rods/2 pistons plus the usual rings bearings gaskets. It is not a rebuild, it is a repair. We didn't bore, do the lifters and cam and only relapped the valves.
Ã‚    Customer is on an extreme budget and could only afford what it needed to make it run relaibly for a couple of years.

Notes
- Air intake at back of engine

- Mounting brackets are not easy to work with

- It's a damn heavy pig

I much prefer my imports
