Does anyone make a roll bar or rear cage for a 92 sidekick 2dr? I'm just looking for something to protect rear passengers more than the nothing that's there now. Or is it something I should get made locally?

There may be other brands out there as well.

Thats for the front passangers not the rear.
I made one myself, not sure if there's anyone out there making one for the rear.

Check around your area to find out where the Stock Car guys are getting their cages made.
Those guys know what it means to get hit and usually know where or who makes the best cages at the best price.

I had to make one then attach it to a Cal Mini front cage.
-
I think when all said and done, you're better off finding someone/someplace to build you a cage. The calmini cage costs enuf (especially when you factor shipping), that you can probably just get a custom built up for about the same (and get what *you* want!)

I was looking at YJ rear rollbars today at the junkyard and was wondering how hard it would be to modify one to fit the rear of my Tracker...

That's not a bad idea Digger, did you happen to get any measurements?
-
No, I didn't have a tape measure with me or I would have...
-
If anyone has any pictures of something in their kick that resembles a YJ roll bar, could you please post some pics, I found someone that can do it, and just want to get a few ideas now. Something like this I guess, but in a kick.

Mike Hagan has what looks like a pretty cool cage in his orange tracker. I could see some of it in the pics of the Ultimate Adventure last year.

The one I made looks just like the YJ's. I mounted steel plates on the inside that stradel the body mount behind the front seats, with steel plates under neith the floor for support. Then I built the roll bar to follow the inside of the tracker and that the bar just touched the rag top.
Then I cut two holes in the floor in the rear of the truck just in front of the tail gate just over frame. Then I bent the rear bars to follow the top, rear window, throught the floor and welded it to the frame. To seal up the holes around the rear bars I silicond the bars to the floor.
So now on a roll over, the front is supported by the body mounts and the rear is tied directly to the frame.
I did leave just enouf room so that I could put padding on the bars.
I'll try to get pictures tomarrow.

i just noticed 3 things about ol' mike hagen... #1, he's got a lot of time on his hands... #2, he's got a lot of good ideas... #3 (and this one is kinda funny, IMO) he's a copenhagen man... the reason its funny, is because copenHAGEN... in case your wondering, look in the picture with the white tracker, that has the tailgate open... real close to the left leg of the roll bar... i'm about 80% sure that's a cope can

You can get alot done when you drink 5 gallons of Mt Dew in a day and rarely sleep ;D
Yea that was my Copenhagen. It was innitally my crutch to quit smoking but I have sence then quit it too (there is just something about a doctor telling you that you may have cancer in your mid 30's that will make you decide to put that stuff down REAL quick)

If you wanted to use a hardtop could you? The one I want to have made needs to fit under my softtop and hardtop. Did you tie it into the frame? - thanks for the pics
Another Q out of curiosity - when you painted it, did you spray inside and under the hood?
-
It does not tie to the frame. It has large feet placed in strong corners of the body though.
