???what are your guys thoughts on the rr coil conversion ?i am leaning this way but missing links and a spring over seems like it would work well also ? ??? ???

The coils will give all the flex, but will be more predictable. They'll have what I call useable flex. I have a missing link, and it's not great. In technical sections (like a boulder field) it works well, but when climbing, descending, or sidehilling they can unload which gets a little scary. I also think the missing link setup introduces more slop into the suspension for general on road use. I would go yj springs without missing link, or if you feel like spending some time and money, the coils will rock.

I run missing links and like 'em. If you have some wrenching and fabricating skills you can do a M/L setup for almost nothing. If money was less of a concern I would go for coils.

impressive coil setup nc_zuk good flex. looks like you are runnin about a 35" tire. looks like it works good. now as far as the body, looks a little to pretty for my tastes ;D
but I like my women pretty and my Zukes "TORE UP".
As for suspension I personaly have yj's with m-link that I have bolted solid and it still has more flex than you would need 99.999 percent of the time. I used to love to flex it out hard, I could ramp out at over 1000.people who didnt know better thought it was "broken" but I decided to bolt them solid for better handeling and I havent calculated it but I bet it still will do an 850-900 which is still pretty flexy.
as far as duriability I have always been a leaf beleiver because there is less mechanics to a leaf system,but they can still break. on the other side coil systems keep the axel better aligned to the frame and control axel wrap better(good and bad ). I think they ride better to.
sorry but I think the answer is what ever you think is going to suite your application best. my .02

Good message lockjaw, I see to many posts about coil spring set ups. And yeah they are the shiznit. But nobody has the money or time to accomplish this. Wrangler springs and missing links can do 90% of coil setups accomplishments.

I have been running coils for about 2.5 years and I love them!! They ride better than anything on the trail. Soft controlled ride. I have a new sport I plat in called speed wheeling. Those on leafsprings hate when I am leading and get the itch. ;D Yea, I love my rig but this is no show truck. It has dents everywhere and scratches all over. The cool thing is that the Camera hides most of that junk. My 2 best friends run YJ setups and they flex and work well but just don't soak up the small bumps like the coils do. I'll never turn back now, i'm a coil believer.
Oh, I'll have new pics soon. The Zuk is under the knife getting a hydro assist steering setup. Just waiting on a few more parts to get it done ;) Then It's off to MOAB in Jube for 2 weeks ;D

That last post was messed up, but coils do rule. No axle wrap or lateral movement is a very good thing.

coils it is ! who wants 90 percent anywayz when you can have 100 . ;D ??? ::) :P

You right 100 percent or nothing. But if your of that train of thought, go with yota axles or dana's. Do it right the first time and save yourself some more time and money. Look at nc-zuk's build up, impressive and refined, but he even surcame to redoing his setup for beefier axles. Of course if you got the money and time the sky is the limits. I don't hate, just rationalize. ::)

coil all the the way. i started with a spring over with missing links and went to wrangler springs and now i have a coil suspension from shaffers off road .it has alot more flex. im building a tracker this year with the same suspension

u dont have to " build " a tracker . just some coil spacers , a body lift , some 33 inch boggers , and a lincoln locker , and you are ready for just about anything . ;D :o

With coils on a sammy you would not even need lockers for the most part, the more they flex the better the traction.

Sorry man, coils are not going to make up for not having a locker. You may have the tires on the ground more often but you still spin tires and lose traction.
