Title: Wheel backspacing on GV's
Post by: AJMBLAZER on September 04, 2005, 11:36:50 AM
What's the backspacing on Grand Vitara 16" alloy rims?

If I was to get a set of 16x7 steel rims for the GV, what would be the ideal backspacing?  We're planning a 1.5" JDMCRX lift with 225/75R16 mud tires on these rims.

By the way if u do 225 or 235/75R16 they wil only rub in the front on a lock to lock turn on the inner splash sheild i had a set of 235 75 R16 on factory steel wheels on my truck no spacers and they only rubbed on the front on lock to lock turns.

They rub here on the front

If you do not want the noise we just cut a strip 3" high by 2" wide off the center of the splash shield and no more rub even under full articulation.

Ill try to get some shots today of full articulation

So just there on the bumper fascia where it folds in and under?  I can cut that thing off pretty fast.

Thanks, looking forward to those pictures. 8)

So if I put on some of the Suzuki brand mud flaps on the front and rear wheel wells would they prove any problem?

Just for everyone's knowledge stock backspacing on the 16x7 alloy rims fitted to a 03 GV is 4".

Measured while I was doing the oil change and tire rotation today. 8)

What is the back spacing on the Grand Vitara Steel wheels? I was under the impression it was 3.75 inches but can someone verify this? Thanks.
