Title: 1.6 swap wiring for dumbies?

 I got a 91  1.6 8v to swap into my 85 sami, so to keep the fuel injection does any body have a detailed wiring spec or where to get one?

 I should be able to strip away everything except what I need for the fuel mangement, o2 sensor etc right? (alreay have tracker tank so fuel delivery is solved)

 I could almost put the ECM in completely separate of any of the sami's original harness?

 I was going to go carb as zaggy had some good suggestions but dealing with local wreckers on anything early 80's is almost impossible unless your talk'n chev pick ups. ( winter reliability is nice to)

 Any other opinions/suggestions

Well, I'm currently trying to sort that thing out for myself.  From what I have gathered there are 7 wires that need to be spliced from the 1.6 ECM to the Samurai, and the rest are hard wired from the 1.6 ECM directly to the sensors.  I started with the wiring diagram out of the Haynes manual, the comlpete Sidekick wiring harness, and plenty of time.  I've made pretty good progress but it would be nice if somebody had the diagram for a stand alone ECM/harness.  I'd like to be able to read the trouble codes off the ECM and not have my Check Engine light on all the time.  So, in the meantime I will keep working on my harness.

It really is worth buying an FSM as it has over 100 pages on the TBI system, it may seem expensive but it saves the hours. I have just started updating my EFI site, I'll put up a scan of the system wiring tonight.

     I'm a firm believer in going with the line of least resistance!
Cover both bases till you make up your mind. Get the complete harness from the Tracker with the ECM and Keep digging for the Carb! If you can't find one give me a call or I'll talk to you on the 11th.

I've put a scan up under schematics, the main part of a retrofit I would think would be the vehicle speed sensor in the speedo head and the main relay/fuel pump wiring. The sensors are all on their own supply. The solenoids are supplied by a 12V loop from the ECU. I haven't counted the number of wires but 7 could be right. You need good grounds!

There should be a menu across the top, let me know if it doesn't work. Its not a 'live' site just somewhere I keep some notes and stuff, for the time being anyway. I've been uploading a fair bit of stuff over the last couple of days. Seems to work for me at home and at work.

Edit: I hadn't uploaded the key to the drawing - done now.

Do that, I did it with the 16V in the LawDog.  Seems to work fine.  If you want the wiring diagram, go to a dealer.  They can print it out for you, maybe at a fee, maybe not.
