Title: Year - Part compatibility
Post by: Dihnekis on September 09, 2005, 08:28:35 PM
I'm going to the U Pull It Yard tomorrow to scout out what they've got, there are 2 4x4 trackers out there and the guy wants $325 for the transmission, transfer, front axle hub to hub, and driveshafts. I don't know what year the trackers are, or even if they are 5 speed or not.

I have a 94 2dr 8vGeo Tracker, what years can I take all those parts from and bolt them right in? I thought it was 89-95, but I'm not positive. Are the transmissions, transfer, and front axle the same on 4doors as my 2 door? I'd imagine the driveshafts are of different length.

Thanks for any help.

That bodystyle everything enterchanges with these differences.

96 up has 26 spline inner front axles, and the t case has a coarse spline output.
Pre 96 has 22 spline inner axles and the t case has a fine spline output.

Thanks for the help. How about the 4 doors though? Everything but the driveshaft interchange off those?

And if I find parts post 96, I can use them because I'm going to be getting the front axle as well as the transfer, so it will all match up, or am I missing something?

As long as its not a 98 sport. I forgot that the sport is different. They are pretty clearly marked sport. They have 16 inch wheels, fender flares, 4 door only, 1.8 engine ect

Ok I went and checked out the tracker today, the born on date was 10/95 which I'm guessing makes it a 96. Its a 4door, and everything I need looked to be in good shape. Any problems yanking the tranny/tcase/front axle and putting them in my 2dr 94?

Oh and I tried shifting the tcase, the shifter would only go down. I've never used a trackick 4x4 before, how do you shift the transfer case. It could go up, down, and neutral but there was no third spot, and the ball was missing.

That will be a 16V engine, you will need
to swap over all the computer too

T-case shifts, starting down position is 2WD
up is 4WD pull left and up again is N up again
is 4WD Low

Happy parts hunting

I have to swap the computer even though I'm keeping my 8v engine?

I don't know anything about swamping a computer, but I'm sure my dad does and I'll talk to him this weekend about it. With that said, is it hard to do?

Not if you are keeping your engine,
I thought you were getting a 16V
engine too
