Title: 2001 Vitara Heater Core
Post by: luvcows on March 24, 2005, 11:08:05 AM
Hi Guys,

I'm new to the board. Let me start by saying I own two Zuk's. A 1998 Tracker and A 2001 Vitara. The Vitara is the wifes car and we just dicoverd the heater core is starting to leak. My question is if anybody has had any hands on with this. I called the regular places like Autozone, Napa, And Carquest. They don't even carry it. So I will probably need to go to the zuk dealer. looking forward to youre input. For the record its a 2001 Vitara JLS 2 door with a 2.0 engine Thanks again!

I know in my 91, it is right behind the radio, pretty much! Gotta take apart ALOT of the dash to get to it. I got lucky, mine just clogged up and I freed it by flushing it out!

I wish it was just clogged. But its shot, it is leaking inside the cabin. Its weird the car only has 30,000 on it. I checked to see how dirty the coolant was. It was super clean. The only thing I can figure is that the car came from Hawaii, so the heater was more that likely never used. Maybe that somehow caused the core to spring a leak. Or its just defective. Any way nobody around here carries one. I even checked all the junk yards around here. Nothing. So I went to the dealer and gave out $300 for a new one >:(  Thanks again for the input.
