Greetings from another newbie. I'll post a picure of BlackTrack soon: '99 w/ a RRO suspension lift, 235's, and a removable hard top from Rally Tops. Went w/ the '99 for the styling and the DOHC 2.0.
I want to install some rockrails or sliders. Leaning towards RRO's. Looking for input. I wish someone fabbed decent skisplates for the 99+ models, and the dealer wants an insane price for the flimsy factory stuff, but anything's better than nothing.
Also torn on what to do w/ the rear diff. Air locker's pricey. Worried about drivability w/ a LockRite (Mrs. likes to drive it occasionally). Probably going to do a limited slip from Calmini. Once again, any input is welcome. This is primarily a trail rig. No real rock stuff, although I do live right next door to Johnson Valley OHV area in Landers, CA, so it's tempting.

i'll tell you this right now, if you are even thinking about doing Johnson Valley OHV then just get a locker, becuase if you think about it long enough, you will do it.
as for lockers, if you want to get a air locker and have the cash, then do it, but if your on a budget then just get the lock right. i would encurage you to save your pennys and try getting a air locker for the front if you where going to buy one.

The RRO rockrails are cool. I've seen them on a kick just last weekend. Another possibility (although I don't know if they are done with the creation process) is Shrockworks. They have been saying that they were making skid plates and rocksliders for the kicks. I got a new front and back bumper for my sammy from them and they are totally hot. Just a thought...

I had a '98 F-150 that I took to the annual Search & Rescue run last Oct. in Johnson Valley. That was one of the main catalyst's for me getting the Track. I was rarely driving the 150 (fuel costs), and it was just too big too be nimble on the trail. I was one of only three who actually FINISHED the run ;D. After the first couple of scratches, those pretty Chevy's bailed.
Sold the 150 for $9k; bought the track for $5k. The extra's slowly (and carefully) going into the build-up. Thanks for the input on the locker's. I'll keep posting as the Track progresses and hopefully make it to a Zukiworld run in the near future.

I've got the RRO rockrails on my '01 2 door tracker and love them. They're well made and a good price. Mount to both the body seam and frame and install was quick and easy. Powder coating seems good - they survived one salty winter without any rust so far (except where I scraped the paint off). If you have a body lift make sure you tell them when you order them. They are made to order so take a few weeks but are worth the wait.

Thanks for the input on the rails. No body lift. Just RRO suspension. Really happy w/ it, except the local alignment shop was clueless on dialing in the camber bolts. Plenty of room for 235's. I could easily clear 30's, too, but I like the wheel travel w/ the 235's
...And I live in the Desert in SoCal; so, no worries w/rust on the rockrails

Just make some sliders. ;D
