Title: Will this be ok?
Post by: phewes on September 25, 2005, 01:14:13 PM
Hey guys!
I've done some more research and now I understand more about tires and rims size for trucks and jeeps.

I wanna know if they won't rub at stock height?

235/75-15's rub on some TracKicks so I would say 30's are gonna rub somewhere without mods.

What backspacing are the wheels? The backspacing has as much effect on clearance as the diameter. The further out the wheels stick the greater the arc they travel.  15x7 is a good size for a 9.5 tyre. I am running 15x7s with 9.5 tyres (albeit 33"), I run 95mm backspacing, that seems to give the maximum clearance all round and brings the edge of the tread right out to the edge of the arch which means its just legal for road use over here.

As for backspacing size.... its 6mm offset  and  3 3/4 inches.

I ran 30x9.5" tires on my truck a while ago, and the only place they rubbed was at full cock on the frame, no big problem, my cousin now has tyhose tires on her stock kick and it doesnt rub either.

Thats good to hear man!

I wanna to get an idea of height of the ride with those wheels on? By any chance you have any pics of hers?

That would help a lot!

Thanks!

Nope, won't work. Only because of the Star Trek emblem on the front. You'll need to remove that. Warp speed will no longer be attainable in a trackick with 30's.

Interesting guard flares are they a stock sunrunner item or aftermarket ?

Those wheels will transform the look big time  ;D

Ok! I was thinking the same thing. Is that the actual Pontiac Sunrunner emblem or has someone put a Star Trek emblem on the car?

My brother has 235/75 mud tires/aftermarket wheels on his Kick and they rub at full compression on the rear even with coil spacers. If phewes is going to stay on the street he should be OK but if he uses the Zuk off-road they will probably hit, I've seen it myself while wheelin' with me Bro. If your gonna spend money on bling tires and wheels why not get the lift and do it right? ;)

What backspacing are your brother's wheels, TN_Tracker? With 3-3/4" BS there might not be a problem as stock is 4-1/4", correct?

15x7 white spokes with 3 3/4" BS. Maybe my Bro's Kick is an oddity or Cooper makes some mighty wide 235's, I dunno.

Out of curiosity, where are they rubbing at? On the body? The frame?

Top of the rear wheel arch on both sides. Last run he bent the lip and cut the tires on both sides. ;D

For who have asked... its Pontiac Sunrunner GT.  Its not a Star Trek Badge.. its just mounted upside down!  ::)

Thanks for the replies TN_Tracker! ;D

Im not gonna take it off-road just yet till I get body and suspension lift and other stuff done first.

I just wanna it to look good!  I cant stand stock wheels anymore! :P

BY any chance you have any pic of those tires and wheels on stock height?

this is a picture of my truck stock ride height with LT235's on it. the wheels are factory ford f150 and i dont know what the offset was. the rear tires rubber on the fender lip on full compression.
